Then it appears on the internet and people read it and enjoy your pictures. Which is why I mostly love the internet.
Well, that and Twitter. Because that changed my entire outlook on society as a whole and how many good people really do exist. Twitter teaches you that. I mean, it will if you look for the right people.
This isn't about Twitter. This is me procrastinating my final for a few more moments and sharing my experience in Niagara Falls.
We traveled to both New York and Canada for this adventure, which happens to be our first international adventure! Even though, you know, I live 45 minutes away from the border in the Mitten State. But whatever, we were in a different state! AND COUNTRY!
I'm not sure I've mentioned this, but B is a pretty fantastic photographer*. He gets such a good perspective and you can usually find him crouching close to the ground to get the perfect shot. Or towering over a rail to get the framing in the exact right place. He uses different functions on his camera, where as I just found out my phone will do effects like "vintage" and "negative".
It's the little things in life.
So the story is that we camped out next to Lake Ontario, which happens to be my second time on that particular Great Lake. I grew up playing on Lake Huron and have swam in Lake Michigan, as well as seen my fair share of Lake Erie (ew). Now I just need to get waythehell Up North to see Lake Superior and I can claim all of the lakes to be Great.
Camping next to a Great Lake is pretty spectacular, especially when a thunderstorm rumbles in. It flashed and thundered at us, but the rain held off until we were done chatting over the campfire and safely inside the tent.
Thanks Mother Nature!
We spent an entire day exploring the Falls. We saw them from the American side:
And from the Canadian side:
We saw them from the Maid of the Mist:
And then we saw them all lit up and showing off to the tourists.
We even got to take a cute picture together:
I don't normally like to feel super tourist-y, but Niagara was a pretty cool exception. We drank some weird Canadian beer and I tried some... different Canadian wine. We laughed too loud at dinner and received strange looks from fellow diners. We watched the light show, got a second shower on the boat, marveled at the enormous beauty of the entire landscape and walked into a "haunted" wax museum. I got startled by Blackbeard, we enjoyed snacks at a corporate bar, and walked around Canada. We bought a HUGE Reese's cup and while we ate it, we watched people walk by. We laughed at some silly things K does, and enjoyed just being together. We talked about everything and anything and climbed next to the American Falls.
It was a nice way to end the summer, especially since this fall I will find myself drowning in homework on top of more homework with probably some more homework thrown in.
Did I mention I'll have homework? Yeah? Ok good. There will be lots of it.
*All of the pictures were taken by Mr. B himself. Except for the one with both of us in it. That was taken by a very nice gentleman who offered a better shot instead of "at arms length". Thanks, sir!
